The ?here today, gone tomorrow? season of Trevor Ludwig continued on Saturday when the 24-year-old defenseman was recalled by the AHL?s Texas Stars after skating for the Steelheads on Friday night. The transaction marks the third time already this season that Ludwig has been recalled from Idaho by Texas ? with his last two stays in Idaho lasting exactly one game each. He has played a total of 14 games with Idaho, scoring one goal and adding five assists. Taking Ludwig?s spot on the roster is forward Patrick Asselin. The 22-year-old left wing spent last season playing in Germany, where he had 79 points (39 goals, 40 assists) in 50 games Prior to that, he spent five seasons playing junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League. He scored 102 goals in 318 OHL contests. Asselin will be making his North American professional debut Saturday night when Idaho hosts Alaska. Idaho head coach Derek Laxdal also announced on Saturday that rookie forward Evan Barlow, the team?s leading scorer with 27 points, has been placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve List. Forward Michael Olson, with a goal and an assist in five games, has been activated to take Barlow?s place in the Steelhead lineup. Idaho wraps up a six-game homestand when they host the Alaska Aces tonight at 7 PM at Qwest Arena. The Steelheads return home on New Year?s Eve, January 31, after Christmas.
