BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars (@DallasStars), and Steelheads Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced today that the club has signed goaltender Jake Barczewski to an ECHL contract for the 2026-27 season.
Barczewski, 27, returns for a second season with the Steelheads after appearing in 24 games for Idaho last season. Across the campaign, Barczewski collected a record of 15-6-2, with a 2.43 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
He also recorded the first two shutouts of his ECHL career during the season. The first was a 31-save performance against the Orlando Solar Bears on Jan. 16 in a 3-0 Steelheads win, with the second occurring in a 6-0 triumph over the Tulsa Oilers on March 20, where he made 36 saves.
The O’Fallon, MO native played one game for the Bloomington Bison at the beginning of last season, while previously appearing in 40 games for the Utah Grizzlies during the 2024-25 campaign.
Overall, through 65 ECHL appearances, Barczewski has amassed a record of 31-22-4, with a 3.12 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
Prior to professional hockey, the 6-foot-1 goaltender enjoyed a five-year college career. He spent his first four seasons at Canisius College, while playing a fifth year at the University of Michigan. Over those five seasons, Barczewski posted a record of 64-56-11 with a 2.67 goals against average and a .914 save percentage, with eight shutouts over that time.
The Idaho Steelheads kick off their 29th season on October 16th at New Mexico and will host the Allen Americans on October 23rd for their home opener.
