Two former Idaho Steelheads stars will go head-to-head in the American Hockey League Western Conference Finals when the Manitoba Moose take on the Houston Aeros. John Lammers (Houston, pictured left) and Greg Rallo (Manitoba, right)?each of whom shone as members of the Steelheads?will wear opposing sweaters when the best-of-seven series gets underway Friday night at Manitoba. The pair shared the ice for Idaho?s 2007 Kelly Cup Championship team and again for a stretch of the 2008-09 season. Both have spent all of this season in the AHL. Lammers finished the regular season in Houston with 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 57 games. He has three assists in 12 postseason games, including a helper in the win that sent the Aeros to the Conference Finals. Rallo had nine points (four goals, five assists) in 55 regular-season games for Manitoba. He?s added two more goals in nine playoff games. Rallo totaled 85 points in his 104 games with Idaho, including ten goals in 21 career postseason contests. Lammers appeared in 71 total games with the Steelheads, scoring 36 goals, including a torrid run during the 2007-2008 season where he netted 27 goals in 36 games. The American Hockey League is the top level of minor league hockey in North America. There are two other Idaho ties in that series?Steelheads goaltender Matt Climie is in Houston as an emergency backup, appearing in three games, and former Voice of the Steelheads Joe O?Donnell is now the play-by-play voice of the Aeros.
