Bossier-City, LA: In a match up that featured 2 of the best all around players in the league, Jomo Wilson out-dueled PJ Berry in front of a crowd of 3,211 at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, LA, helping guide the Burn to a 54-45 victory The Battlewings got off to a quick start scoring the games first 14 points.5 minutes into the game, Jason Schule capped off a 45 yard opening drive with a 7 yard TD run and the early 7-0 lead. After a 4 and out by the Burn offense, Battlewings QB Andrico Hines connected with Manwel Talbert for a 19 yard score and a 14-0 lead. He Burn cut the lead to 7 when Jomo Wilson (JLS Ironman of the Game) took a 5 yard pass and turned it into a 24 yard score with 1:42 left in the first quarter. Following an Art Carmody 32 yard field goal to give Bossier-City a 17-7 lead, it was Wilson again this time turning a short Taylor Tharp pass into a 26 yard TD cutting the deficit to 3 at 17-14. Five and a half minutes later, Boise would take their first lead of the game when Terrance Sanders jumped in front of an Andrico Hines pass, returning it 51 yards for the TD and the 21-17 lead. The Battlewings would capitalize on a Boise Burn failed on side kick attempt. Hines hit PJ Berry for a 16 yard TD and the 24-21 lead going into the half. Opening kick off of the second half set the tone for the rest of the game. Jomo Wilson took the ball off the net and returned it 56 yards for the score giving Boise the 28-24 lead. The teams would exchange touchdowns and the Burn held a 34-31 lead after 3 quarters. Nichiren Flowers was the star of the 4th quarter. The former of the University of Nevada-Reno wide receiver scored back to back touchdowns (15, 18) giving Boise a 9 point lead 47-38. Following a Buchie Ibeh TD with 39 seconds left, Burn QB Taylor Tharp capped off the scoring with a 3 yard TD run as the Burn improved to 2-0 for the first time in team history.
