The Idaho Steelheads (32-18-3) snapped their two-game skid with a 3-1 win over the Stockton Thunder (26-26-5). Like last night, one team in this game never trailed; but tonight, that team was the Idaho Steelheads. Tonight?s game started differently from last night?s affair, as no fighting majors were assessed in the first period this evening; however, it was similar to last night?s game in that the game remained a scoreless tie for quite some time. However, Garett Bembridge did manage to give the Steelheads the first goal of the game, beating Stockton goalie Bryan Pitton upstairs to take a 1-0 lead for Idaho. Mark Bomersback and Trevor Ludwig assisted on Bembridge?s 17th at 18:10 of the first period. Cory Urquhart scored the only goal of the second period at 10:12; The goal was the 26th for Urquhart, and his third in two games against Idaho this weekend, and Ryan Huddy and James Bates collected the assists. In the third period with the game on the line, the Steelheads scored the first goal of the period and did not look back. Ben Nelson scored his 21st of the year, tying him for the team lead, at 10:16. At 18:25, Mark Bomersback netted the dagger for Idaho, his 21st, putting him in a three-way tie for the team lead with Nelson, and the man who assisted on Bomersback?s insurance marker, Bryan McGregor. Matt Climie earned the win and improved to 19-10-1, stopping 20 of 21. Bryan Pitton stopped 32 of 35 Steelheads shots in a losing effort; he is now 9-17-2. This weekend series concludes with tomorrow?s game, which begins at 5:00 PM Mountain time.
