Off the Hook: Steelheads Update 1/26/09

The Idaho Steelheads skated out of Utah with a three-game sweep over the Grizzlies this weekend, giving them a perfect post- All-Star break record. The wins have pulled the Steelheads into a tie for second place in the West Division and National Conference with arch-rival Alaska, each with 51 points. Victoria remains in first place in the division/conference with 60 points. The Steelheads, a little weary after winning the weekend?s three games in three days and all in post-regulation play, will have a bit of a break to recoup this week. Idaho doesn?t play again until Feb. 4 when they take on the Condors in Bakersfield.IDAHO VS UTAH 2008-09The Steelheads have faced off against the Grizzlies 11 times this 2008-09 season, and seven of those games have gone to either an overtime period or a shootout. Of the last five meetings, all five have gone to post-regulation play and the Steelheads have been victorious in all five.Head to Head Record vs Utah: Idaho is 9-1-0-1Game-By-Game vs Utah:Idaho 4 @ Utah 3 (Jan 25 2009) Final OTIdaho 7 @ Utah 6 (Jan 24 2009) Final SOIdaho 6 @ Utah 5 (Jan 23 2009) Final OTUtah 3 @ Idaho 4 (Jan 14 2009) Final SOIdaho 3 @ Utah 2 (Dec 27 2008) Final OTUtah 1 @ Idaho 5 (Dec 26 2008) FinalIdaho 3 @ Utah 2 (Dec 9 2008) FinalUtah 1 @ Idaho 4 (Dec 6 2008) FinalUtah 5 @ Idaho 3 (Dec 5 2008) FinalUtah 3 @ Idaho 4 (Dec 3 2008) Final SOUtah 3 @ Idaho 2 (Oct 18 2008) Final SOIDAHO STEELHEADS AT-A-GLANCE51 Points; T2nd West Division, T2nd National Conference, T4th OverallOverall: 24-14-2-1 (51 points) Home: 11-7-0-1 (home)Away: 13-7-2-0 (road)Streak: 3-0-1-0Past 10: 6-3-1-0ECHL NATIONAL CONFERENCE, DIVISION STANDINGS West GP W L OTL PTS PCTVictoria Salmon Kings 43 28 11 4 60 0.698Alaska Aces 41 24 14 3 51 0.622Idaho Steelheads 41 24 14 3 51 0.622Utah Grizzlies 40 15 14 11 41 0.512Phoenix RoadRunners 37 17 17 3 37 0.500 Pacific GP W L OTL PTS PCTOntario Reign 40 23 14 3 49 0.613Stockton Thunder 42 18 19 5 41 0.488Las Vegas Wranglers 38 17 17 4 38 0.500Bakersfield Condors 42 13 23 6 32 0.381STEELHEADS BITES• Kris Sparre had eight points (4g-4a) in three games at Utah. ?
