Steelheads celebrate Mylymok's jersey retirement with a win

On Jeremy Mylymok jersey retirement night, the Steelheads (12-8-2) never trailed, and got back on the winning track against the Utah Grizzlies (8-10-2), who snapped Idaho?s four-game win streak a night ago. 4,157 fans were on hand for Idaho?s Saturday night victory. Matt McKnight opened the scoring on the power play with his first professional goal at 5:27 of the first period, with assists going to Matt Stephenson and Garett Bembridge. At 17:36, Kris Sparre scored an unassisted goal, his fifth of the season, as he capitalized on a Utah turnover to make it 2-0. Matt Stephenson delivered a devastating blow to the Grizzlies when he made it 3-0 on the power play with 15 seconds to go in the first period to put the Steelheads up 3-0; notching assists were Bembridge and Bryan McGregor. The first intermission saw the retirement of Jeremy Mylymok?s number-four jersey at Qwest Arena. Mylymok was surrounded by family and friends on the ice during the celebration. The Grizzlies mustered the only tally of the second period, as Andy Sertich scored his first of the season; Evan Kotsopoulos was credited with an assist on the power play goal. Ben Nelson gave the Steelheads insurance in the third period with his team-leading eleventh of the season; a power play goal assisted by Steve Gainey and Marty Flichel at 3:49 of the third. Rejean Beauchemin stopped 27 of 28 Utah shots, and improved to 6-3-2 with the victory. Michael Mole took the loss for Utah, falling to 6-10-2 on the season.
