GAME RECAP: vs Spokane Shock

The Spokane Shock showed why they are league?s top team, outscoring the Boise Burn 33-13 in the first quarter en route to their 10th straight win 68-51 in front of 4,530 unhappy fans at Qwest Arena. Demond Williams (JLS Ironman of the Game) gave the fans something to cheer about taking the opening kick off 58 yards for the TD (missed P.A.T) and the early 6-0 lead. The Shock would answer with a quick screen pass that went for a Raul Vijil 40 yard TD pass thanks to some poor Burn tackling. 2:18 later Boise would take their final lead of the game when Ahmad Harris (Cutter?s Catch of the Game) came down with the catch of the year for a 19 yard TD pass from BJ Rhode and the 13-7 lead. The Shock would score 26 unanswered in the first quarter to take a 33-13 lead after 15 minutes of play. Raul Vijil (Schutt Offensive Player of the Game) scored on a pair of 9 yard TD passes, Patrick Bugg had 2 yard rushing TD and Sergio Gilliam (ADT Defensive player of the Game) returned an interception 24 yards for a TD for the 20 point lead. Spokane outscored Boise 14-12 in the 2nd quarter. Down 41-19, Burn DB Terrance Sanders returned his 8th interception of the season 48 yards for a TD, getting Boise to within 16 at 41-25, but Davila found Bugg in the endzone for a 2 yard score an the 47-25 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter, Bugg picked up where he left off catching a 40 yard TD pass from Davila giving the Shock the 54-25 lead with 11:32 left to go in the 3rd quarter. Shadrach Okoebor would close the gap with a 2 yard TD grab over Roshawn Marshall giving the Burn life heading into the 4th Down 54-31 in the 4th quarter, Demond Williams Picked off Davila and took it back 50 yards for the score closing the gap 54-37. Newly acquired WR Eric Allen scored a couple of TD in the 4th quarter and the Burn outscored Spokane 20-14 in the 4th quarter, but it wasn?t enough as the Shock improved to 10-0 with the 68-51 victory. With the loss the Burn have now lost 3 straight and sit at 5-5 after 10 games. The Burn (5-5) will host the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz next Saturday Night at Qwest Arena.
