Burn 61, Lightning 34 The Boise Burn (5-2) rebounded from last week?s loss at Spokane with a convincing 61-34 road victory over the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds at the Ocean Center on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderbirds started the scoring 5:15 into the game when QB Matt Bohnet took the snap for a 1 yard score and the early 7-0 lead. Ahmad Harris would even the score at 7 with 3:20 left to go in the first quarter with a 16 yard TD reception from Royal Gill. The Burn outscored Daytona Beach 21-7 in the second quarter. George Williams had a pair of TD runs (3,9) and Harris (Schutt Offensive Player of the Game) would score on 2 yard TD pass giving the Burn the 28-14 heading into the break. Williams scored his 3rd TD of the game 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter on an 10 yard TD pass from Gill and Harris would score on a 2 yard run 4:23 later giving the Burn the 41-14 lead. Up 47-28 in the 4th, Harris would score his 5th and final TD on a 13 yard run giving the Burn the 53-28 lead as the Burn went on to defeat the Thunderbirds 61-34. Harris finished with 4 catches for 62 yards and 3 TD?s and 4 rushes for 33 yards and 2 scores. Defensively, Terrance Sanders (ADT Defensive Player of the Game) and Ernie James each picked off Rookie QB Matt Bohnet who finished 19-40 for 266 yards 5 TD?s (1 rushing) and 2 INT?s The Burn return home next Saturday Night and will host the Central Valley Coyotes (3-4) in a National Conference West Division showdown. Kick off is at 7:00pm at Qwest Arena.
