GAME RECAP: vs Central Valley Coyotes

A back and forth game saw a late rally fell short for the Boise Burn and the Central Valley Coyotes came into Qwest Arena and knocked off the Burn 46-40 in front of 4,495 fans.The Burn started the scoring on the first offensive play of the game. Royal Gill hit Ahmad Harris for a 33 yard TD and the early 7-0 lead. The Coyotes answered with a pair of TD?s. Joe Ayoob (Schutt Offensive Player of the Game) connected with Tonae Martin on a 10 yard TD pass tying the game up at 7. Ayoob then found Nichiren Flowers open for a 41 yard TD and the 14-7 lead. Casey Allen scored on a 22 yard strike from Gill (missed P.A.T.) with 3 minutes left in the first quarter. Gill finished the night completing 15 of 35 passes for 154 yards and 4 TD?s (2 rushing) and 1 interception. In the second quarter Boise outscored the coyotes 12-6 for a 25-20 halftime lead. Casey Allen scored his first rushing TD of his career from 4 yard out. Tonae Martin?s 15 yard TD catch gave Central Valley the lead at 20-19. With 2:32 left to go in the half. Gill scored on a 3 yard TD run for the halftime lead. Central Valley answered on the opening drive of the second half on a Damian Walker 2 yard TD run. Gill?s 2nd TD run of the game (1 yard) gave Boise the lead at 33-26 following a 2 point conversion. Tonae Martin would tie the game at 33 on his 14 yard TD catch from Ayoob with 5:34 left to go in the 3rd. In the 4th quarter, The Burn looked to have gained the momentum when Demond Williams (JLS Ironman of the Game) returned a missed field goal for a 50 yard TD and the 40-33 lead. But the Coyotes would score the final 13 points of the game to seal the victory. Martin?s 4th TD of the game evened the score at 40 and Nichiren Flowers 15 yard TD catch on 4th down and 6 gave centrl Valley the lead for good. With the win, the Coyotes even their record at 4-4 while the Burn fall to 5-3 in 2008. The Burn are back on the road next Saturday at Tri-Cities.
