Boise, ID (2/16/16) – The ECHL announced on Tuesday that Idaho Steelheads goaltender Jack Campbell has been named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of February 8th-14th. It’s the second time this season that Campbell has received Goaltender of the Week honors.
Campbell went 2-0-0 last week in two games against the Utah Grizzlies, posting a 0.48 goals-against average and a .983 save percentage.
Campbell made 17 saves in Idaho’s Friday night 3-1 win over the Grizzlies at CenturyLink Arena. He followed that with an even better performance the following night at Maverik Center, making 40 stops in regulation and overtime and then three more in the shootout to shutout the Grizzlies for the second time this season, 1-0.
A first-round NHL Draft selection of the Dallas Stars in 2010, Campbell is 13-4-0 and leads the ECHL with a 1.58 goals-against average, a .947 save percentage, and he’s tied for the lead with four shutouts in 17 appearances. Campbell was also named Goaltender of the Week for the week of January 18th-24th. He was the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for January as well.
In 24 career ECHL starts over the past two seasons, all with Idaho, Campbell is 18-6-0 with five shutouts, four of them by a 1-0 score, a 1.62 goals-against average, and a save percentage of .947.
Campbell was reassigned to the Steelheads from the AHL’s Texas Stars on December 27th. Campbell has made 115 starts over the past five seasons with AHL Texas, and one start with the NHL’s Dallas Stars. Prior to turning pro, Campbell represented Team USA at three straight IIHF World U-20 Championships (2010, 2011 and 2012), winning a gold medal in 2010 and bronze in 2011. He was named the 2011 IIHF World U-20 Championships “Best Goalkeeper” and a tournament all-star.
