Boise, ID (12/30/15)— Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced Wednesday that goaltender Philippe Desrosiers has been called up to the AHL’s Texas Stars. Desrosiers, a 2013 NHL Draft pick of the Dallas Stars, is in his first professional season and is joining AHL Texas for the first time.
Desrosiers, 20, is 8-6-2 this season with Idaho, sporting a goals-against average of 2.46 and a save percentage of .907. The rookie has played his best hockey of the season during Idaho’s recent seven-game unbeaten streak, going 5-0-1 in his last six starts with a goals-against average of 2.01 and a .913 save percentage.
The Steelheads added emergency backup goaltender Will Gagnon to the roster for Wednesday night’s game against the Colorado Eagles. Jack Campbell is expected to make his first start of the season in goal for Idaho.
