Windsor, CO (11/18/15)— Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Wednesday that the Steelheads have signed defenseman Dave Pszenyczny to an ECHL contract. Pszenyczny will be available for the Steelheads for Wednesday night’s game against the Colorado Eagles.
Pszenyczny, 30, is a veteran defenseman who has played 522 games in nine seasons in the CHL ECHL, and AHL. Pszenyczny, dubbed “Chezy” by fans during his career, was a member of the Indy Fuel to start this season, dressing in one preseason game but not suiting up during the regular season. He was released by the Fuel on November 10th.
Pszenyczny played 67 games last season in the ECHL with the Tulsa Oilers, scoring ten goals and 30 points and racking up 82 penalty minutes. He spent the prior six seasons in the CHL with the Missouri Maverick, where he was an assistant captain for three seasons, and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, logging at least 100 penalty minutes in each season. Pszenyczny has also played with the Alaska Aces, Reading Royals, Phoenix Roadrunners, and Toronto Marlies in his career, totaling 70 goals, 212 points, and 1,058 penalty minutes.
“Dave is a veteran player who brings leadership to our team,” said Graham. “He has a strong compete level every night.”
The Steelheads and Eagles kick off their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05pm. The game can be heard on 1350AM KTIK “The Ticket”.
