Boise, ID (10/07/15) – Three more players joined the Steelheads on the ice at CenturyLink Arena for training camp on Wednesday. Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers and forwards Brandon Magee and Taylor Peters all arrived in Boise ahead of Wednesday night’s intrasquad scrimmage at CenturyLink Arena.
Both Desrosiers and Magee were loaned to Idaho from the AHL Texas Stars on Tuesday, while Texas reassigned Peters to the Steelheads on Monday.
Desrosiers, 20, was drafted in the second round (54th overall) of the NHL Draft in 2013 by the Dallas Stars. He played just over three seasons with Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, with a record of 83-33-15 and a .902 save percentage over that time. Desrosiers was named the Canadian Hockey League’s Goaltender of the Year last season. He joins Chris Rawlings as the second goaltender in Steelheads camp.
Magee, 21, played just over five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Chilliwack Bruins and Victoria Royals. Magee racked up 264 points (113 goals, 151 assists) in 318 WHL games, and 13 goals and 29 points in 27 playoff games. He served as an assistant captain for the past three seasons in Victoria.
Peters, 23, returns to Idaho after finishing last season with the Steelheads, netting four goals and seven points in nine games and playing in three playoff games. Peters spent the beginning of last season and all of the 2013-14 season with AHL Texas, where he scored seven goals and 19 points in 109 AHL games.
Magee signed a standard AHL contract with AHL Texas on October 3rd before he was sent to Idaho. Desrosiers and Peters arrive on NHL deals.
