Boise, ID (10/16/15) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced ahead of Friday night’s home opener that Carson McMillan has been named Captain of the Steelheads.
McMillan, 27, has leadership experience at the professional level, serving as an assistant captain during the 2012-13 season with the AHL Houston Aeros and during the 2013-14 season with the AHL Iowa Wild. This will be McMillan’s first time serving as a captain, his first season in Idaho.
“Carson is a veteran player who leads both on and off the ice. He is detailed in the way he plays the game,” said Graham. “Carson, as well as our other three captains, has been great with our young team.”
Forwards Andrew Carroll and Colton Beck, along with defenseman Shawn Boutin, will all serve as assistant captains. Carroll has served as an assistant captain twice in his pro career, including his previous stint with the Steelheads in 2012.
Beck and Boutin will wear letters for the first time in their professional careers. Beck served as captain during his senior season at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and Boutin served as an assistant captain for three seasons with Val-d’Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Tickets are still available for the Steelheads’ regular season opener tonight against the Rapid City Rush at CenturyLink Arena. Fans will receive a Steelheads Schedule Magnet.
Season tickets are also now on sale with full-season packages starting as low as $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are also available. Contact the Idaho Steelheads at 208-383-0080 for more information or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com.
