Boise, ID (09/29/15) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Carson McMillan on an ECHL contract.
McMillan, 27, joins the Steelheads for his seventh professional season and second turn in the ECHL. The Brandon, Manitoba native spent the 2014-15 season split between three teams, playing the first 22 games of the season with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears before finishing the rest of the year split between the Toronto Marlies and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League (AHL). McMillan tallied five goals and 14 points with the Solar Bears and added a goal in the ECHL All-Star Game.
The former seventh-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2007 has played in 16 NHL games in his career, notching five points (two goals, three assists). McMillan played in the Wild farm system for five seasons, with the AHL’s Houston Aeros from 2009 to 2013 and then with the AHL’s Iowa Wild for the 2013-14 season. He served as an assistant captain from 2012 through 2014.
McMillan has registered 52 goals and 114 points in 389 career pro regular-season games, as well as three goals and seven points in 29 playoff games.
“Carson is a veteran player who contributes at both ends of the rink,” said Graham. “He leads by example and will have a strong presence in our locker room.”
