Boise, ID (7/1/2015) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced Wednesday that the Idaho Steelheads have issued qualifying contract offers to eight players.
The players – F Wade MacLeod, F Colton Beck, F Jason Bast, F Rob Linsmayer, F Jefferson Dahl, F Alex Belzile, D Charlie Dodero and G Olivier Roy.
Players who had already signed a contract by June 30 did not need to receive a qualifying offer.
Each team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players. Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season. All eight of Idaho’s players qualify as “non-veteran.”
The seven skaters to receive qualifying offers from Idaho combined to score 307 points, including 133 goals, for the team last season. The eighth player, goaltender Olivier Roy, was an ECHL All Star and won a career-high 25 games in net for Idaho.
The Steelheads open the regular season on Friday, October 16, at home against the Rapid City Rush. It is the first of 36 home games for the team, each of which will be played at CenturyLink Arena.
