Boise, ID (3/8/2015) – Specialty jerseys worn over the weekend by the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads generated over $23,000 for St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute in the team's annual "Pink in the Rink" event.
The final total of $23,435 included silent-auction bids on jerseys, raffle tickets and fund-raising tickets. The entire amount goes to St. Luke's MSTI.
The amount also pushed the team over the $500,000 mark in total monies raised for local non-profits and charities via jersey auctions dating back to 1998. The jerseys of David deKastrozza, Matt Case, Colton Beck and Mike Dalhuisen each sold outright for $1,500 while Gaelan Patterson's jersey drew a $1,000 bid. Jason Bast and "Blue," the team's mascot, each generated another $900.
The team will host one more jersey auction this season, benefiting the Jayden DeLuca Foundation, on April 3-4.
Idaho wraps up its five-game homestand with games on Monday and Wednesday against the Bakersfield Condors at CenturyLink Arena in what will likely be the final two meetings ever between the two rivals who have been playing one another since pro hockey arrived in Boise in 1997. The Condors are one of three teams from the ECHL's Pacific Division who will be joining the American Hockey League next season.
