Boise, ID (2/9/15) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Monday that goaltender Jack Campbell has been reassigned by the NHL’s Dallas Stars to the Idaho Steelheads.
The 23-year-old Campbell will join Idaho from Texas, where he has spent virtually his entire professional career after being selected by Dallas in the first round, 11th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The Port Huron, MI, native is in line to be the second NHL first-round draft pick to play for Idaho in the ECHL era, joining Adrian Foster (2001, New Jersey Devils).
In 87 games at the American Hockey League level, Campbell is 38-33-9 with a 2.62 goals-against average. He has also appeared in one game at the NHL level, making 41 saves for the Stars in a loss at Anaheim on October 20, 2013. Campbell had a strong junior career as well, including a gold medal representing the United States in the 2010 IIHF Under-20 World Championships and earning “Best Goaltender” recognition at the same event in 2011.
In a related transaction, rookie goaltender Henri Kiviaho has been recalled from Idaho by the Stars and sent to Texas. He’s 6-5-1 with a 2.92 goals-against average so far this season with Idaho.
The Steelheads return to home ice on Friday, February 13, to host the Utah Grizzlies for another Family Fun Friday. The same two teams also play on Saturday, February 14, with game time each night being 7:10 PM. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208-331-8497.
