Boise, ID (2/6/15) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Friday that forward Jason Bast has agreed to a professional tryout contract with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
It’s the second call-up of the season for Bast. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.
The 25-year-old Saskatchewan native is in his first full professional season. He currently ranks among the ECHL leaders in game-winning goals (7, 1st), goals (25, T-2nd) and points (44, T-12th) and is a two-time winner of the ECHL’s “Rookie of the Month” award, just the sixth player in ECHL history to win the award more than once in a season.
After attending AHL training camp with the Texas Stars in October, Bast made his AHL debut with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in December, appearing in two games before returning to Idaho.
