Boise, ID (11/5/14) – The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced Wednesday that Olivier Roy has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October.
Roy, 23, was a perfect 4-0 in net during the month for Idaho, including one shutout. His goals-against average was under one goal per game (0.89) and his save percentage was .964 during his October appearances.
In 75 career games at the ECHL level, the Quebec native has a goals-against average of 2.14 and a save percentage of .930.
Roy became the fifth goaltender to be selected as the league’s Goaltender of the Month, but the first since Tyler Beskorowany in January of 2011. The other three – Matt Climie (March ’09), Steve Silverthorn (November ’06) and Frank Doyle (October ’04).
The Steelheads hit the road this week for three games in Colorado against the Eagles. All three games begin at 7 PM with Wednesday and Saturday’s contests each being broadcast live by KTIK 1350 AM. Friday’s game will be aired on KTIK 93.1 FM.
