Steelheads announce Opening-Night roster

Boise, ID (10/16/14) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced the Opening-Night roster for the Idaho Steelheads.

The Steelheads open their season Friday night at Utah.  The team follows up with its home-opener Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena against the same Grizzlies team at 7:10 PM.

The roster is as follows:

Goaltenders (3):  Olivier Roy, Henri Kiviaho, Maxime LagaceDefensemen (5):Troy Vance, Patrick Cullity, Matt Case, Colin Shea, Eamonn McDermottForwards (11):Ludwig Karlsson, Alex Belzile, Gaelan Patterson, Levi Nelson, Steve Quailer, Luke Judson, Wade MacLeod, Jason Bast, Brett Robinson, James Livingston, Colton Beck

Forward David deKastrozza and defenseman Charlie Dodero will open the season on the ECHL Reserve List.  Kiviaho, Lagace, Vance and Karlsson are all on assignment in Idaho from the team’s NHL affiliate, the Dallas Stars.

Between the active roster and the reserve list, there are nine players who have competed for the Steelheads before – Cullity, Case, McDermott, Patterson, Judson, Bast, Robinson, deKastrozza and Dodero.

One player – Cullity – meets “veteran” status by ECHL standards.  Seven (Lagace, Kivaho, Vance, Shea, McDermott, Bast and Beck) are classified as rookies.
