Boise, ID (3/5/14) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Wednesday morning that the Idaho Steelheads have received forward Taylor Vause from Texas of the American Hockey League.
Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the NHL’s Dallas Stars.
Vause, 23, opened the season with Idaho, collecting nine points (six goals, three assists) in 17 games before being recalled to Texas. With the Stars, the Calgary, Alberta, native had a goal and assist in twelve games. He’s in his second professional season out of the Western Hockey League, where he served as team captain for Swift Current.
Vause is expected to be in the lineup for Idaho Wednesday night when the Steelheads host the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7 PM.
Also, Ralph announced that the AHL’s Rochester Americans have recalled forward Johnny McGuire from Idaho. The 20-year-old McGuire had a goal, 47 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 11 games for Idaho. The goal he scored, his first professional tally, was a game-winner at Alaska on February 1.
