Boise, ID (12/10/13) – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Tuesday that the NHL’s Dallas Stars have loaned forward Austin Smith to HC Assat, a professional hockey team in Finland.
Also, rookie forward Mitchell Good has been added to the roster for the Idaho Steelheads.
The 24-year-old Good has been called up to Idaho from Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League. With the Ice Flyers, Good led the SPHL in plus/minus rating (plus-11) and ranked in the league’s top ten in scoring with 19 points. His nine goals were good for second on the team. He’s in his first full professional season after playing college hockey in Canada at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Smith had been on assignment from the Stars with the Idaho Steelheads. Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of the Stars. The 25-year-old had one goal in four games with Idaho this season after leading the team in scoring with 50 points (27 goals, 23 assists) in just 38 games last season as he split his rookie campaign between Idaho and Texas of the American Hockey League.
The Steelheads return to action Wednesday night. It is Bud Light’s “Dollar Beer Night” as Idaho hosts the Alaska Aces. Small beers will be sold for just one dollar through the end of the second period.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
