CenturyLink "Hat Trick Reading Program" Returns

Boise, ID (12/17/12) ? The Idaho Steelheads, CenturyLink Arena, and several local libraries are again teaming up to reward Treasure Valley children for reading over the winter with the CenturyLink Hat Trick reading program. The program is simple. First of all, children from the ages of 5 to 13 are eligible to enroll at the following libraries ? Boise Public Libraries, Ada Community Libraries, Garden City Libraries, Meridian Libraries, Eagle Public Libraries, Kuna Public Libraries or Nampa Public Libraries. This year marks the first year Nampa?s libraries have joined the program. Once children have enrolled, they?ll receive a book mark that lay out three ?goals? for the children that center around reading. The first goal is simply signing up for the program. The second goal is reading with a family member for 20 minutes per day for seven days. And the third goal involves writing a brief essay or drawing a picture about the Steelheads hockey team. If the three goals are completed, the child will have earned vouchers for two tickets to a Steelheads game, a Steelheads cap, and an invitation to the CenturyLink Arena ?Free Skate? on Sunday, February 24. ?The goal is to have children spending their holiday vacation time using their imagination and reading books,? Steelheads? team president Eric Trapp said. ?The program has grown every year and now, with the Nampa libraries on board, we expect it to grow even more.? CenturyLink Arena is located in the heart of downtown Boise. It is home to the Idaho Steelheads and the Idaho Stampede. Seating 5,000 people CenturyLink Arena hosts many events every year. More than 350,000 fans attend over 100 events during 2012.
