(Boise, ID) ? The ECHL announced Monday that voting has opened for the first-ever ECHL Mei Gray Silver Skater Fantasy Team. In lieu of an All Star Game this season, the ECHL and the Mei Gray Group are giving fans the chance to vote for players that will comprise the 2012 Silver Skater Fantasy Team. Two players from each team will be selected to wear special Silver Skater jerseys. Each ECHL team pre-determined four players to appear on the ballot, but fans have the ability to vote for other players by writing them in on the ballot at www.echl.com. The Steelheads four nominees are forwards Jacob Cepis and Kael Mouillierat along with defensemen Matt Case and Chris Hepp. The two top vote-getters from the Steelheads will wear the Silver Skater jerseys at Idaho?s home game on February 25 against the Utah Grizzlies. The unique, game-worn jerseys will then be up for auction starting on March 5. Voting began this morning at the ECHL?s official website (echl.com). Fans are limited to one ballot during the voting period, which runs through February 5. The winners will be announced by the ECHL and Mei Gray during the week of February 20. Nominees from other teams in the Western Conference include Eric Lampe (Las Vegas), Wes Goldie (Alaska), and Chad Costello (Colorado), who are three of the ECHL?s top six scorers. Former Steelheads Brandon Svendsen (Kalamazoo) and Zack Torquato (Wheeling) are also on the ballot. The Steelheads are on the road Monday night at Utah. Game time is 7 PM and can be heard on KTIK (1350 AM) or online at ktik.com. Idaho returns home on Tuesday, January 24, to host the Stockton Thunder.
