Klassen named ECHL Player of the Week

(Boise, ID) ? Idaho forward Chad Klassen has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 21-27. It is Klassen?s first ECHL honor and Idaho?s first honoree of the season. Klassen had eight points (two goals, six assists) in three games in Colorado last week, including a career-best, five-point night in a 7-5 victory over the Eagles on Friday night. His four assists in that contest tied an ECHL high for helpers in one game so far this season. His plus/minus rating in the three games, where Idaho went 1-1-1, was plus-5. The 26-year-old Saskatchewan native is up to 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 16 games on the season for Idaho. He made his professional debut late last season with Victoria of the ECHL after concluding his college career at the University of Alberta. He also played major-junior hockey in the prestigious Western Hockey League for the Spokane Chiefs and Saskatoon Blades. A case of pucks will be donated to an Idaho youth hockey organization on Klassen?s behalf by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities. Idaho remains on the road this week, playing at Pacific Division-leading Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday night. Idaho?s next home game is Wednesday, December 7, against the Colorado Eagles at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.
