Steelheads put finishing touches on 2010-2011 season

(Boise, ID) ? The ECHL?s Idaho Steelheads drew the curtain on the 2010-2011 season last week, reaching the conference semifinals on the ice and reaching innumerable people off the ice. On the Ice: Though the team did not reach its ultimate goal of a fourth Kelly Cup Finals appearance, there were plenty of highlights. Forward Mark Derlago set a new single-season record for goals, Kael Mouillierat was named to the league?s All-Rookie team, and the Steelheads were one of just three teams to have multiple players selected for the ECHL All Star Classic. Derlago, Mouillierat, and goaltender Tyler Beskorowany each received all-star honors and Derlago was named first-team All-ECHL for the second consecutive season. In the Stands: Idaho saw attendance increase during the 2010-2011 season as the team averaged 4,018 fans per game, including a season-high 5,322 that saw the team defeat Ontario, 3-2, on March 26. That?s the highest per-game average since the 2007-2008 season. The team also sold out four games during the season. In the Community: The Idaho Steelheads donated over $60,000 to local charities and non-profit organizations during the season, highlighted by the ?Pink in the Rink? event. The Steelheads generated over $16,000 for St. Luke?s Mountain States Tumor Institute by auctioning off specially-themed pink jerseys that the team wore for three home games during March. The team has now generated over $350,000 for Treasure Valley charities and non-profits via jersey auctions dating back to the 1998-99 season. The team also hosted a ?Green Initiatives? week in conjunction with Allied Waste and the City of Boise as fans exchanged plastic grocery sacks for reusable bags and learned about the ?Shift to CNG? Initiative. In the Schools: The Steelheads were once again very active in schools throughout the community. From Glenns Ferry to Weiser, Marsing to Emmett, staff and players from the Idaho Steelheads nearly 60 schools during the 2010-2011 season. Steelhead players Cody Lampl, Steve Oleksy, and Matt Tassone were regulars at Boise?s Frank Church Alternative High School, where the trio were mentors for students throughout the season. The team?s partnership with the Commercial Tire ?Be True to Your School? program and the Joe & Kathryn Albertson Foundation?s ?Go On? Campaign helped increase the team?s visibility in local schools while helping partners increase their footprint in the Treasure Valley. Ticket plans are already available for the 2011-2012 season. Full-season plans start at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games with partial-season plans also available. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
