(Boise, ID) ?The Idaho Steelheads are partnering with the City of Boise?s ?Curb It? program and Allied Waste?s ?Shift to CNG? initiative to bring fans the Green Initiatives Weekend at Qwest Arena when the Steelheads host the Las Vegas Wranglers. On Friday night, the Curb It campaign encourages fans to bring their plastic grocery bags to the game. There will be bins in the Qwest Arena lobby where the first 750 fans can drop off plastic bags to be recycled and they will receive a free, re-useable bag in exchange. There will be a Curb It information table on the concourse where fans can stop by and learn more about waste reduction, recycling and the city?s other solid waste. On Saturday night, the Shift to CNG initiative will give fans the opportunity to stop by their table on the concourse to calculate how much money they could save if their vehicles were powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) instead of traditional oil-based fuel. CNG can cost up to $1.25 less per gallon than gasoline. The first 100 fans to calculate their possible savings will walk away with a free t-shirt, courtesy of the Shift to CNG initiative. ?Here at Qwest Arena, with the help of partners like the City?s ?Curb It? campaign and Allied Waste, we?ve worked hard to be more environmentally-responsible,? Steelheads president Eric Trapp said. ?We?re proud to work with our partners to provide a weekend like this where fans can learn more as well.? The Steelheads are home Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at Qwest Arena. It?s a ?Twice the Ice? week, where fans who purchase a $15 ticket to Wednesday?s game have the option of buying a $7 ticket to Saturday night?s contest.
