(Boise, ID) - Former Idaho Steelheads defenseman Trevor Ludwig has been recalled by the NHL's Dallas Stars and has joined the team on the road in Edmonton.Ludwig, 25, isn't expected to make his NHL debut Tuesday night in Edmonton but could when Dallas plays in Calgary on Wednesday or Vancouver on Saturday.Ludwig's twin brother, Tyler, currently plays for the Steelheads.Ludwig appeared in 53 regular and post-season games with the Steelheads between 2008 and 2009. Along the way, he netted three goals and handed out 13 assists. He's the second member of the 2009-2010 Steelheads team to be called up by an NHL team, following goaltender Richard Bachman, who was called up by Dallas earlier this season.Ludwig becomes the 12th former Steelhead to be on an NHL roster this season, joining Bachman, Dan Ellis, Matt Climie, BJ Crombeen, Zenon Konopka, Warren Peters, Francis Wathier, Tom Wandell, Aaron Gagnon, Jay Beagle, and Brian Fahey. When he steps on the ice, he'll be the third former Steelhead to make his NHL debut this season, along with Bachman and Fahey.Tyler Ludwig has ten points (two goals, eight assists) in 49 games with the Steelheads this season. He's in his first full professional season after playing college hockey at Western Michigan.He and the rest of the current Steelheads host the Alaska Aces Friday night at 7 PM in Boise.
