Steelheads Swept on Two-Game Trip to Anchorage

The Idaho Steelheads (13-12-6) fell for the second straight night to the Alaska Aces (17-9-1) as Alaska skated to a 3-1 victory in a Mountain Division battle. Tyler Ludwig netted his first professional goal in a losing effort for Idaho. Tyler Ludwig, playing as a forward, scored the game?s first goal and gave Idaho a 1-0 lead when he cut to the side of the Alaska net and fired a puck along the ice that beat Aces netminder Adam Courchaine. John Swanson and Mark Derlago assisted on Ludwig?s first professional goal at 3:24 of the opening frame. At 18:10, Alaska tied the game at 1-1 when Zach Harrison poked home the rebound of a Kory Falite shot. Brian Swanson gave Alaska the 2-1 lead at 10:43 of the second period on a wrist shot through traffic from the high-slot area in the Idaho zone. The former NHL?er had been held off the scoreboard by Idaho on Tuesday night. Alaska took a 3-1 lead when Mark Isherwood scored on a one-timer from the top of the right circle at 3:50 of the third period; Isherwood?s goal was the final tally of the evening. Jase Weslosky falls to 2-4-0 with the loss; he turned away 32 of 35 shots. Adam Courchaine stopped 22 of 23 Idaho shots, and improves to 5-2-0 in net for Alaska.
