(Boise, ID) ? Long-time Steelhead forward and all-time leading scorer Marty Flichel was one of twelve players named to the ECHL?s ?All-Decade Team? on Wednesday. Darrell Hay, who spent five seasons with the Steelheads, and Peter Metcalf, who played one season in Idaho, were also selected for the team. The team, voted on by hockey fans at ECHL.com, included six forwards, four defensemen, two goaltenders, and one head coach: Forwards: Marty Flichel (Idaho); Luke Curtain (Atlantic City/Fresno); Barret Ehgoetz (Utah/Cincinnati); Scott Bertoli (Trenton); Wes Goldie (Pee Dee/Victoria/Alaska); Randy Rowe (Peoria/Johnstown/Charlotte/Trenton). Defensemen: Darrell Hay (Florida/Columbia/Idaho); Matt Shasby (Columbus/Long Beach/Alaska); Chad Starling (Peoria/Utah/Cincinnati/Ontario); Peter Metcalf (Atlantic City/Trenton/Idaho/Alaska/Florida). Goaltenders: Mark Magliarditi (Florida/Louisiana/Richmond/Las Vegas); Scott Sterling (Trenton/Peoria/Atlantic City/Fresno). Coach: Davis Payne (Pee Dee/Alaska) Flichel, Ehgoetz, Goldie, Rowe, and Starling are still active on ECHL rosters. Flichel, 34, is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Idaho Steelheads with 352 points, 343 of which came during the now-completed decade of 2000-2010. Flichel also has 44 points in 52 Kelly Cup Playoff games and earned first-team All-ECHL honors following the 2006-2007 season when he helped the Steelheads win the organization?s second Kelly Cup championship. Hay anchored Idaho?s defense corps during the team?s two Kelly Cup championships (2004, 2007), was twice named an ECHL All-Star while with Idaho, and also earned All-ECHL honors following the 2007-2008 season. The 30-year-old is still playing professionally in Europe. Nominations were accepted through ECHL.com during September and voting was conducted through October. To be eligible for the All-Decade team, players or coaches must have made a significant impact on the ECHL from 2000-2010, playing or coaching in parts of no less than four seasons during that span. Only those accomplishments, statistics, awards, and honors earned during ECHL play are taken into account for the All-Decade team. The Steelheads return home this week to host three games against the Stockton Thunder. With games on Wednesday and Saturday, it?s a ?Twice the Ice? week for Steelheads fans. Fans that purchase a $15 ticket for Wednesday?s game can purchase a seat for Saturday?s game for just $7. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
