Idaho drops pre-season finale to Utah

(Boise, ID) ? Rookies Malcolm Gwilliam and Matt Tassone each registered third-period goals but it was not enough Saturday night as the Idaho Steelheads fell to the Utah Grizzlies, 4-2, to conclude their ECHL pre-season slate. Utah netted a goal in the first, a goal in the second, and a goal in the third before Tassone got the first Idaho tally in the final frame. Before Idaho could creep any closer, Hugo Carpentier gave Utah a 4-1 lead. Gwilliam finished out the scoring for Idaho moments later. Following Gwilliam's tally, Utah's Marc Rinfret kept the Steelheads off the board over the game's final ten minutes to seal the win. Rookie Billy Blase went the distance in net for Idaho. The Yale product stopped 32 of 36 shots for the Steelheads. The Steelheads open the regular season on October 15 when they host the Victoria Salmon Kings at Qwest Arena. Ticket plans for the 2010-2011 season are available right now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games during the regular season. Partial-season plans are also available. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
