Steelhead alums dot NHL training-camp rosters

Twenty-one former Idaho Steelheads are among those competing for jobs at hockey's highest level as NHL training camps opened this weekend. That doesn't include 22-year-old Mark Olver, the son of longtime Steelheads head coach John Olver, who is in training camp with the Colorado Avalanche. More than half of the Steelhead alums in NHL camps are with the Dallas Stars, Idaho's NHL affiliate. The rest are scattered among eight teams across the league: Dallas Stars - Aaron Gagnon, Luke Gazdic, Sergei Korostin, Michael Neal, Greg Rallo, Mathieu Tousignant, Tom Wandell, Francis Wathier, Trevor Ludwig, Guillaume Monast, Richard Bachman (right), Tyler Beskorowany. New York Islanders - Zenon Konopka, Jeremy Yablonski. Tampa Bay Lightning - Dan Ellis. Los Angeles Kings - Richard Clune. Edmonton Oilers - Ben Ondrus. Saint Louis Blues - BJ Crombeen. Minnesota Wild - Warren Peters. Phoenix Coyotes - Matt Climie. Washington Capitals - Jay Beagle. Idaho is scheduled to open training camp on Monday, October 4. The reigning ECHL National Conference champions open the regular season on October 15 at Qwest Arena against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Full-season ticket plans are available for as little as $275.
