(Boise, ID) ? Forward Mathieu Tousignant has been reassigned by the AHL?s Texas Stars to the Idaho Steelheads and will be in uniform Friday night when Idaho opens its ECHL National Conference semifinal playoff series against Utah. ?You should have seen the smiles in the locker room when he walked in,? Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal said. ?The guys are fired up to be getting Mathieu back and so am I.? The 20-year-old Tousignant (pronounced TOOZ-ih-no) opened the regular season with Idaho, skating in 20 games and quickly becoming a fan favorite before being recalled to Texas on December 1. He appeared in 45 games for Idaho?s AHL affiliate, scoring four goals and handing out three assists, and earned a contract with the NHL?s Dallas Stars along the way. Tousignant had 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in his 20 games with Idaho, including a career-best four-point night against the Utah Grizzlies on November 6. All told, he had six points in five regular-season games against Idaho?s upcoming playoff foe. Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the Dallas Stars. Note: Idaho has added 19-year-old Tyler Beskorowany as an emergency backup goaltender this weekend. Beskorowany is property of the Dallas Stars and will serve as Richard Bachman?s backup in net for the Steelheads. He spent this past season playing major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League and was a second-round draft pick of the Stars in 2008. Rejean Beauchemin will be inactive to start the series. The Steelheads open up the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs on April 16 and 17 against the Utah Grizzlies at Qwest Arena.
