Beauchemin's Shutout Secures Idaho's 1-0 Win in Stockton

The Idaho Steelheads (15-3-1) improved to a perfect 8-0-0 against the Stockton Thunder (5-10-3) this season with a 1-0 win at Stockton Arena tonight. Rejean Beauchemin earned his first shutout as a Steelhead, and John Swanson netted the game?s only goal to secure Idaho?s win. The first two periods did not yield any scoring and showed the makings of a goalie?s duel; Rejean Beauchemin stopped fifteen shots in the Steelheads net, while Bryan Pitton stopped all 25 shots he saw in the Stockton cage over the first two periods. Early in the third period, John Swanson netted the game?s first and only goal. He moved in through the right wing circle, and fired a snap shot by Pitton for the eventual game-winner at 1:10 of the final frame. Evan Barlow earned an assist on the goal. Rejean Beauchemin stopped all 28 shots he saw in the game for his first shutout of the season; he is now 6-1-0. Bryan Pitton stopped 29 of 30 in the loss; he is 1-6-1. The teams will conclude the series Saturday night in Stockton. The puck drops at 8:30 PM MST.
