Idaho adds defenseman to roster

(Boise, ID) ? The ECHL?s Idaho Steelheads have signed defenseman Mike Stuart, head coach Derek Laxdal announced Friday morning. The 29-year-old arrived in Boise on Thursday and will be in uniform when Idaho opens the regular season Friday night against the Stockton Thunder. Stuart has extensive experience in the American Hockey League and appeared in three NHL games for the Saint Louis Blues. He appeared in 260 AHL games between 2002 and 2007, totaling 52 points and 164 penalty minutes. There are also 21 ECHL games in his professional history. The Chicago native spent the past two seasons playing in Austria. Opening Night is Friday night at Qwest Arena, when the Steelheads host the Stockton Thunder. It is Project Filter Schedule Magnet Giveaway night and the team will be on the ice for post-game autographs. It?s also the first 4-for-$44 promotion of the season. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Full-season and partial-season ticket plans remain available as well.
