(Boise) -- Former Boise Burn offensive lineman Kyle DeVan was not among 18 players released by the NFL's Indianapolis Colts Saturday, making him the first player to advance from Boise to an NFL roster. DeVan opened the 2009 season as the starting center for the Burn. He played three games with Boise before being signed as a free agent by the Colts on April 21. He is listed as the second-string center behind Jeff Saturday on the Colts' depth chart, but he also spent time at guard during training camp. The Oregon State product spent much of the 2008 season on the practice squad of the New York Jets before joining the Burn organization. DeVan earned All-Pac Ten honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior before turning pro. DeVan was the second player to earn a training-camp invitation after playing for the Burn. Linebacker Mickey Pimantel (2008, Atlanta Falcons) is the other.
