Peters signs with Stars organization

It turns out Aaron Gagnon isn?t the only former Steelhead to ink a contract with the Dallas Stars? organization in recent days. Warren Peters has also signed a one-year, two-way deal with the NHL club. ?Warren is a gritty center ice-man with underrated skill,? Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said on the team?s official website. The AHL-NHL deal comes on the heels of Peters? NHL debut with the Calgary Flames this past season. He skated in 16 regular-season games and four post-season games for the Flames, tallying a goal and 12 penalty minutes along the way. Peters tied for second in scoring for the Steelheads in 2004-2005 with 46 points. His 23 goals were also tied for second on the team behind Bobby Russell?s 26 goals and 63 points. He also played 21 games for the club in 2003-2004, scoring 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists). He had one assist in four total postseason games with Idaho. A pair of former Steelheads made their NHL debuts with the Stars last season. Forward Tom Wandell and goaltender Matt Climie each had stints with the Stars. Other former Steelheads to appear in the NHL last season include forward BJ Crombeen (Dallas/St. Louis), forward Ben Ondrus (Toronto), forward Zenon Konopka (Tampa Bay), forward Jay Beagle (Washington), and goaltender Dan Ellis (Nashville). Season-ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are available now, starting as low as $450 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season ticket packages are available for as little as $150. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
