Burn defense stifles Fever Offense Boise?s 4 INT?s helps complete 4 game sweep of Tri-Cities The Boise Burn defense picked off Tri-Cities quarterback Colin Drafts four times and QB Taylor Tharp threw for 6 TD?s and set the team record in passing yards (2,682) as the Burn swept the4 game set with the Fever 63-21, improving to 12-2 on the season. Ernie James set the tone early for Boise, picking off Drafts on the opening drive. The offense would capitalize on a Taylor Tharp to Jomo Wilson 27 yard TD giving Boise the early 7-0 lead. This would be the start of a career game for Wilson who took home, Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game, JLS Ironman of the Game, and Big Game Catch of the Game honors. Wilson 2nd TD of the game (18 yards) gave Boise the 16-0 lead after one quarter of play. The Burn outscored the Fever 20-7 in the second quarter. Following a Finas Rabb TD, Casey Allen found the end zone from 14 yards out. On the ensuing kickoff, Terrance Sanders, who has a league best 7 kickoff return for TD?s, recovered the loose ball off the net for the score and the 29-7 lead. Marcis Fennell, in for an injured Damian Walker, capped off the first half scoring with his first rushing TD of the year and the Burn took a 36-7 lead into the break. On the opening offensive play of the third quarter, Tharp hit Nichiren Flowers for a 30 yard score increasing the lead to 42-7 and a Casey Allen would complete a 33-0 run that would all but knock out the Fever. Jomo Wilson added his 3rd receiving TD of the night, and would wrap up his night with a pick bow that gave the Burn 63-14 lead. On the play, Wilson, who came in for one defensive play, picked off Drafts and returned it 22 yards for the TD. The play solidified Wilson?s night as Mr. Everything. The Burn now gets back on the road for their longest road trip of the year. Boise will take on South Georgia in Albany, GA next Saturday, July 18th. Kick off is at 5:30 (MT).
