Gagnon signs deal with Stars organization

Former Idaho Steelheads forward Aaron Gagnon has signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Stars organization for the 2009-2010 season. Gagnon, 23, signed an AHL-NHL deal. ?Aaron made good strides with his game last season in Grand Rapids (of the AHL),? Dallas Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said on the team?s official website. ?He will continue to add solid depth at the center position in our organization.? Gagnon appeared in 61 games at the AHL level last season, tallying 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists). The Armstrong, BC, native appeared in 22 regular-season games for Idaho in 2007-2008, tallying 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) as he formed a lethal early-season combination with Mark Bomersback for the Steelheads. He was then called up to the Iowa Stars of the AHL, skating in 25 games, before returning for Idaho in time for the 2008 ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs. Gagnon also played for Steelheads? head coach Derek Laxdal in the 2008 NHL Prospects Camp in Traverse City, MI.
