Blue, Steelheads help Homedale Lions Club raise money

The Idaho Steelheads community crew spent its Fourth of July holiday in the western Idaho town of Homedale, taking Blue to the 27th-annual Homedale Lions Club Demolition Derby. The Derby is the Lions Club?s one fundraiser for the year and annually brings in more than $30,000. The Steelheads Foundation contributed to the Lions Club?s cause by donating an executive suite to a game next season along with some Steelheads merchandise to be raffled off. So while Blue was meeting and greeting fans from the west end of the Treasure Valley, people bought raffle tickets for a chance to bring 19 of their family and friends to a Steelheads game next season. The proceeds from the raffle helped the Homedale Lions Club raise money to give back to the local community. The Lions Club helps finance civic improvements, funds scholarships, and provides community support. Lions Club member Will Pryor said that more than $15,000 went right back to the people of the Homedale area last year. The Demolition Derby?once again?was sold out, with about 4,000 fans packed into the Owyhee County Fairgrounds to watch.
