Burn ?D? stifles Coyote ?O?

Fresno, CA: The Boise Burn turned to their defense late in the game and they responded by shutting down the potent Central Valley offense as they were trying for the game tying TD with 10 seconds left. Jason Murrieta?s throw to George Williams was broken up by Terrance Sanders and the Burn held on for the 52-45 victory at Selland Arena. Boise got off to a quick start taking the opening drive 39 yards down the field and capping it off with a Damian Walker 1 yard TD run. The Coyotes were going in for the game tying score when Levi Madarieta picked off the Jason Murrieta pass and returned it 52 yards for the score ad the 13-0 lead. Central Valley would answer with a pair of TD. Murrieta hit George Williams for a 6 yard score and John Roberson gave the Coyotes the 14-13 lead on an 8 yard TD 2:43 into the second quarter. Casey Allen gave Boise the lead on a 43 yard TD catch from Taylor Tharp and Nichiren Flowers found the end zone on a 13 yard TD catch with :52 left in the first half giving Boise 27-14 lead. :27 later LaMonte Jones got the Coyotes to with in 6 with on a 31 yard TD. Ben Scott connected on a 40 yard field goal as time expired in the first half giving Boise the 30-21 lead going into the break. Central Valley controlled the 3rd quarter. John Roberson scored hs second TD of the evening on the opening drive to get C.V. to within 2 at 30-28. Terrance Sanders did the only scoring for the Burn on the ensuing kick off taking the Kyle Hooper kick 56 yards back to the house increasing the lead back 9. George Williams did the rain dance for the second time on the evening to get the Coyotes to within 2 at 37-35. Central Valley took the lead in the 4th quarter on a Marquell Stinson 3 yard TD run with 10:43 left in the game. 2 minutes later Jomo Wilson had the Big Game Catch of the Game on a yard leaper in the back of the end zone giving Boise the 45-42 lead. Following a Hooper 26 yard field goal to tie the game at 45, Taylor Tharp found Nichiren Flowers wide open in the end zone for the 24 yard game winner. The Burn defense held the Coyotes on a 4th and 4 with 20 seconds left and the Burn escaped with a 52-45 win improving their record to 3-1. The win marks the first for Boise in Fresno NOTE: The Burn defense recorded 3 sacks in the win led by David Stanton who tallied his first 2 sacks of the season. Kick off is at 7pm. All home games are televised live on Cable One Channel 17 and will also be available on Nifty TV through www.af2.com. All 16 Boise Burn games will be broadcast exclusively on Journal Broadcast Group?s KGEM 1140 AM with Scott Conklin calling the action.
