Where Are They Now? BILLY MCGUIGAN

The Idaho Steelheads are running a series of Where Are They Now? to catch up with some former players and will post, in their own words, what they're up to and what they remember about their days spent with the Steelheads. Next in our series is Billy McGuigan, who was an original Steelheads player. The now 33-year-old played 58 games with the Steelheads (then part of the West Coast Hockey League) in the team?s inaugural season in 1997-98, and 20 games the following year before hanging up his skates. In his time with the Steelheads, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound, right-winger tallied 30 points and 265 PIMS. Having played in the OHL, CoHL and CHL, he also played with the Alaska Gold Kings of the WCHL prior to coming to Idaho. Here?s what he?s been up to since?.I left Boise in 1998 and returned to my home town Charlottetown (PEI). I returned to school at the Atlantic Police Academy and got a diploma in Corrections, and at the same time I took up Coaching at the minor hockey level. I worked in Corrections for about 6 years. I then started Coaching Jr A. I spent 5 years with the Charlottetown Abbies, 2.5 as an assistant and 2.5 as the Head Coach and GM. I'm currently the Head Coach and General Manager of the Miramichi Timberwolves. I have a partnership in a clothing line called Kamel, and I have just recently started doing some Rep work with Ballistik hockey and Mario Therrien and Carl Menard. I got married 5 years ago to Tammy Smallman from Oleary, PEI. We had our 5th anniversary on July 26th. We have two beautiful baby girls, Emmalee who turned one on May 14th and Brooke who was born on May 27th of this year. Life is good.
