With the af2 playoffs in full swing, the league office today released the All-af2 teams. Three Boise Burn players earned recognition from coaches and media around the league, including: defensive back Terrance Sanders and offensive lineman Richard Seals who were named to the All-af2 Second Team; and full back/kicker Levi Madarieta who earned a spot on the All-Ironman Team.Sanders, a rookie out of Eastern Illinois, began the 2008 campaign with the Utah Blaze of the AFL. After being released, Sanders joined the Burn and made his debut on Apr.19 against The Tri-Cities Fever. Sanders set a team record with 9 interceptions breaking Sullivan Beards record of 8 set in the team?s inaugural 2007 season. Sanders ranked fourth in the league in interception return for TD?s with 2 and fourth in interception return yards with 205 yards. Along with the 9 picks, Sanders racked up 67.5 tackles, 14 break ups and 1 fumble recovery. He was also a force on special teams averaging a team best 25.1 yards a return on kick offs. Terrance returned 14 kick offs for 351 yards including a 57 yard return for TD in the season finale against the league?s top team the Spokane Shock. Seals, who played three years in the NFL for the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills, and a season with af2?s (now defunct) Bakersfield Blitz in 2007, made his mark for the Burn in limited play. He missed 9 games with a knee injury suffered in the season opener at Tulsa, and subsequently played in only seven games for the Burn, but his dominance up front was so impressive that he received the recognition.Madarietta, proved his worth as team captain and starting jack linebacker, while filling the role as team place kicker. The Weiser, Id. native contributed on all sides of the ball for the Burn, having recorded a receiving TD, and 51.5 tackles, 2 sacs, 3 interceptions ? one returned for a TD, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 forced fumbles. These are the first All-af2 honors for the Boise Burn.
