Boise Burn QB Royal Gill has a liking for The Stockton Arena. For the second time in as many tries, the rookie out of Eagle, ID has led his team to a come back victory over the Stockton Lightning. Tonight Gill threw 2 TD?s in the final 36 seconds of play as the Burn came back from a 9 point deficit in te last minute to win 55-51. The Stockton lightning got on the board first following a defensive stop. Andy Collins drove the team down and capped off the drive with a 5 yard TD pass to B?Jay Jones for the early 7-0 lead. Boise answered on a 12 yard TD from Gill to Shadrach Okoebor tying the game at 7. The Lightning outscored Boise 20-14 in the 2nd quarter. Andy Collins (Schutt Offensive Player of the Game) connected with Ruben Jackson on a 17 yard score for the 14-7 lead. Gill found Okoebor again, this time from 5 yards out (missed PAT) and the Burn were down 1, 14-13. Boise would take their first lead of the game on a Gill to Eric Allen TD. The 2 point conversion put Boise up by 7 at 21-14. The Lightning answered with 19 straight points. Collins hit Justin Taplin on a 19 yard strike and a 1 yard Peter Tuialuuluu TD run gave the Lightning the 27-21 lead at the break. The Lightning took a 12 point lead in the 3rd quarter on 4th down and 26. Collins hit Taplin for a 39 yard score and the 33-21 lead. On the ensuing drive, Demond Williams came down with a spectacular 37 yard TD getting Boise to within 5 at 33-28. Following B?Jay ones 2nd TD of the game, Gill got Boise to within 4 with a 1 yard TD run and Boise trailed 39-35 after 3 quarters. Boise outscored Stockton 20-12 in the 4th quarter. Down 9 with 36 seconds left, Gill hit garret Smith in the endzone getting Boise to within 3. On the ensuing kickoff, Demond Williams recovered the onside kick and with 15 seconds left to play, Gill hit Casey Allen for the game winner. Boise?s defense came up big as Terrance Sanders picked off Andy Collins on the games final play and the Burn improve to 6-6 with the 55-51 victory. The win snaps the Burns 4 game losing streak.
