BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars (@DallasStars), and Steelheads Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced today that the club has traded defenseman Trevor Zins to the Greensboro Gargoyles in exchange for future considerations.
Zins, 27, made his lone appearance of the season for the Steelheads in the team’s first regular season game against the Tahoe Knight Monsters on Oct. 17. He entered the year on an ECHL contract after agreeing to a deal with Idaho to on August 28 to return for his third season with the team.
The blue liner earned team honors last season as the Steelheads Defenseman of the Year after playing in all 72 regular season games and racking up 15 points (1G, 14A). In his time with Idaho, he registered 24 points (4G, 20A) in 107 regular season games. In nine postseason contests, all during the 2023-24 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Zins notched one assist and was a +2.
The move leaves the Steelheads with 27 players on their roster, including eight defensemen.
