BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars (@DallasStars), and Steelheads Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced three trades today ahead of the start of the regular season. The Steelheads will receive future considerations in each deal.
First, the Steelheads traded forward Danny Dzhaniyev to the Utah Grizzlies. Dzhaniyev, 23, signed an ECHL contract with the team on August 19th and registered three points (2G, 1A) in two preseason contests with Idaho.
Next, the club traded defenseman Jason Horvath to the Worcester Railers. Horvath, 25, notched 12 points (0G, 12A) in 22 regular season games last season for the Steelheads after being acquired from the Reading Royals in a trade on Jan. 14th. He had zero points in his lone preseason game for the club after signing an ECHL contract with the team on August 12th.
Finally, Idaho traded defenseman Reece Harsch to the Fort Wayne Komets. Harsch, 26, registered 16 points (5G, 11A) in 52 games for the Steelheads last season, and did not play in the preseason for Idaho.
The Idaho Steelheads kick-off their 28th on ice season Friday, October 17th at Tahoe and will host the Utah Grizzlies on October 24th for their home opener.
