BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars (@DallasStars), and Steelheads Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced today that the Dallas Stars (NHL) assigned forward Ayrton Martino on loan from the Texas Stars (AHL) to the Steelheads.
Martino, 23, was a third-round pick (73rd overall) by Dallas in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and played four games for Texas last season upon the completion of his collegiate career at Clarkson University.
The 5-foot-11 forward skated in 144 games over four seasons at Clarkson, posting career-highs during the 2024-25 campaign with 25 goals and 51 points in 39 games to lead the team in scoring. Those numbers earned him several accolades, including a selection as the 2025 ECAC Player of the Year, and spots on the 2025 ECAC First All-Star Team and 2025 NCAA (East) First All-American Team.
He also led the team in scoring in his sophomore season and was second on the club in scoring in his junior year.
Martino becomes the seventh player on either an AHL or NHL contract to join the Steelheads ahead of the regular season.
The Idaho Steelheads kick-off their 28th on ice season tomorrow, October 17th at Tahoe and will host the Utah Grizzlies on October 24th for their home opener.
