BOISE, ID – The Idaho Steelheads (37-25-9-1, 84pts) lost to the Kansas City Mavericks (49-18-4-1, 103pts) Saturday night by a final score of 3-2 in overtime in front of a sellout crowd of 5,275 at the Idaho Central arena for the 69th consecutive regular season sellout crowd.
Kansas City led 1-0 after the first period as Nolan Sullivan scored on the power-play at 15:45 from Isac Jonsson and Luke Loheit. Shots were 10-6 Mavericks.
The Mavericks led 2-1 after the second period. David Cotton scored on the power-play at 9:50 from Marcus Crawford and Damien Giroux. Jade Miller (7th) made it a one score game with 5:09 to play from Patrick Moynihan and Patrick Kudla.
With 92 seconds left in the game Matt Register (6th) scored on the power-play from Kaleb Pearson to force overtime.
Nine seconds into the overtime session David Cotton struck for his second of the game giving the Mavericks the 3-2 win.
Ben Kraws made 36 saves on 39 shots in the loss while Noah West made 22 saves on 24 shots in the win.
